PM Modi to visit Maharashtra to inaugurate metro, supercomputing, energy projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Pune, Maharashtra, on September 26. He will flag off the Pune Metro from District Court to Swargate at 6 PM. Following this, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for multiple projects valued at over Rs. 22,600 crore.

The completion of the Pune Metro Rail Project (Phase-1) will be marked by the inauguration of the underground section between District Court and Swargate, built at a cost of Rs. 1,810 crore. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation for the Swargate-Katraj extension of Pune Metro Phase-1, an underground 5.46 km stretch with three stations, developed at a cost of Rs. 2,950 crore. He will also lay the foundation stone for the Memorial for Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule’s First Girls’ School at Bhidewada.

PM Modi will dedicate to the nation three PARAM Rudra Supercomputers, developed under the National Supercomputing Mission, worth Rs. 130 crore. These supercomputers, located in Pune, Delhi, and Kolkata, will support cutting-edge scientific research. The Giant Metre Radio Telescope in Pune will utilize the supercomputer for research on Fast Radio Bursts, while research in material science, atomic physics, and cosmology will be enhanced by the facilities in Delhi and Kolkata.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will unveil a High-Performance Computing (HPC) system for weather and climate research, an Rs. 850 crore initiative based at Pune and Noida. Named ‘Arka’ and ‘Arunika,’ these systems are set to improve the precision of weather forecasts and predictions for various natural events.

In the energy sector, PM Modi will unveil projects worth Rs. 10,400 crore, focusing on energy infrastructure, facilities for truck and cab drivers, and promoting cleaner energy alternatives. This includes the development of Way Side Amenities for truck drivers across the country at a cost of Rs. 2,170 crore and the introduction of Energy Stations offering multiple fuel options.

To further green energy goals, 500 EV charging stations will be inaugurated, with plans to establish 10,000 stations by 2025 at a cost of Rs. 1,500 crore. The Prime Minister will also open 20 LNG stations across India, including three in Maharashtra, and launch 1,500 retail outlets for E20 petrol, a 20% ethanol blend.

The visit will also include the inauguration of Solapur Airport, which has been revamped to handle approximately 4.1 lakh passengers annually. PM Modi will also dedicate the Bidkin Industrial Area, a 7,855-acre project under the National Industrial Corridor Development Program, which aims to spur economic growth in the Marathwada region, with a development cost of Rs. 6,400 crore.

Furthermore, PM Modi will introduce Energy Stations that provide multiple fuel options such as petrol, diesel, CNG, EV, and ethanol-blended petrol (EBP) at single retail outlets. Approximately 4,000 such stations will be constructed over the next five years along key transport corridors, with an investment of Rs. 6,000 crore.
