BTS' V might be busy with mandatory military service, but the singer sure has a lot of surprises planned for ARMYs during his absence from the spotlight. After dropping 2 solo songs and appearing in IU's, Taehyung has announced a new project,TYPE 1.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), BTS’ label BIGHIT MUSIC took fans by surprise as they dropped a poster to announce V aka Kim Taehyung’s new project. TheSlow Dancing singer, who was shirtless, could be seen leaning against a door in the monochromatic poster. Revealing the project’s name and release date in the caption, BIGHIT MUSIC wrote, “V ‘TYPE 1’ Poster. Pre-order: 2024.6.27. 11AM (KST) Release: 2024.7.9. Coincidently, July 9 is ARMY Day, a day dedicated to BTS' fans. It marks the day when 'ARMY' was first coined as the official name of the fandom.

On the work front

Before enlisting for military service, BTS’ V made his solo debut with his first album,Layover, in September last year. The album consisted of six songs, withSlow Dancing as its lead single. Aside from his solo album, the Love Me Again singer also dropped collaborative track with UMI and appeared in IU’s Love wins all music video. On March 15, BTS’ label BIGHIT MUSIC released V’s new single FRI(END)S.

For the unversed, V is currently serving in the South Korean Army. The BTS star enlisted for his mandatory military duty in December 2023. After completing his five week long basic training at the military boot camp, the BTS star trained for an additional three weeks at the Army General Administration School before being transferred to the ROK II Corps.
