New Delhi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday stoked a fresh controversy by chanting “Jai Palestine” as he took oath as a member of the 18th Lok Sabha. While finishing his oath, Owaisi, towards the end, said, “Jai Bhim, Jai Meem, Jai Telangana, Jai Palestine, Takbir, Allah Hu Akbar”

There has been an uproar in the Parliament and outside after Hyderabad MP Owaisi raised the slogan of Jai Palestine. According to reports, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Shobha Karandlaje objected to it soon after Owaisi ended his speech.
Later, the presiding officer in the Lok Sabha, Radha Mohan Singh reportedly asked to this statement of Owaisi from the record. However, the video statement of Owaisi has gone viral.
After the swearing-in ceremony, Owaisi said in a post on X that he would continue to raise issues of India's marginalised with sincerity.

Owaisi, who took oath as the MP from Hyderabad for the fifth time, defeated Madhavi Latha. Owaisi secured over 6,61,000 votes, while Madhavi Latha got 3,23,000 votes in the Lok Sabha elections. The Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat has been traditionally a stronghold of the AIMIM.
This incident recalls the moment in 2019 when several MPs chanted "Jai Shri Ram" as Owaisi took his oath of office.
