India has extended humanitarian assistance to Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe to help mitigate food shortages caused by severe droughts linked to the El Niño phenomenon.

The relief effort includes shipments of food grains from Nhava Sheva port. India dispatched 1,000 metric tons (MT) of rice to Malawi, 1,300 MT of maize to Zambia, and 1,000 MT of rice to Zimbabwe. These supplies aim to support the food security efforts in each of these nations.

This initiative reflects India’s philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family) and its commitment to South-South cooperation. It also reaffirms the country’s dedication to strengthening ties with Africa, a priority emphasized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India remains prepared to assist its allies in times of need, further reinforcing longstanding relations.
