Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a rally in Sonipat, Haryana, ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, accused the Congress party of being deeply involved in corruption. He criticised Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his alleged involvement in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.
“It’s only been two years, and already the Congress government in Karnataka is facing serious corruption allegations. The Chief Minister himself is accused in a land scam, and when the matter was brought before the High Court, the court ruled that a thorough investigation is required,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi accused the previous Congress government of exploiting farmers’ lands and entrusting Haryana to middlemen and family members. “Ten years ago, under the Congress rule, farmers’ lands were plundered. Haryana was handed over to brokers and family dynasties. Jobs were impossible to secure without deceit, and corruption permeated every institution,” he remarked.
He also condemned the Congress party for neglecting marginalized communities in the state. “Congress has consistently excluded SCs, STs, and OBCs from meaningful participation. It was Baba Saheb Ambedkar who ensured reservations for Dalits; otherwise, like the OBCs, Dalits would have had to wait for Congress to be ousted to claim their rights. Whenever Congress is out of power, the poor, SCs, STs, and OBCs have gained their rightful place. But under Congress rule, these communities have had their rights taken away,” Modi asserted.
Shedding light on the agricultural reforms in the state under the BJP regime, the Prime Minister said that the party has always worked to uplift the farmers.
“The BJP government in Haryana has decided to give MSP for 24 crops, but when the Congress was here, it hated to buy crops on MSP. This is the truth of the Congress party which the farmers need to learn. The BJP government is continuously taking decisions in the benefit of the farmers,” PM Modi said.
Prime Minister Modi highlighted the state’s economic growth and infrastructure improvements, emphasizing enhanced connectivity and the construction of highways.
“Today, leading global companies are eager to invest in India and establish their factories here. Imagine the impact—when these major companies invest in India, the youth and farmers of Haryana will benefit immensely. The people of Haryana understand the value of a ‘double engine’ government, which is why they choose the same government at both the state and central levels,” Modi said.
Praising Haryana’s contributions to national achievements, PM Modi added, “Haryana is India’s medal factory. The state’s youth have played a significant role in the Olympics and world games. We will establish small Olympic game nurseries in every district to ensure that Haryana’s youth continue to represent India on the international stage.”
Haryana will go to the Polls on October 5 and the results for both Haryana and JK will be declared on October 8.
