Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various developmental projects in Maharashtra totaling over ₹11,200 crore. The event is set to take place on Sunday via video conferencing.
A key highlight of the event is the inauguration of the Pune Metro section from District Court to Swargate, marking the completion of Pune Metro Rail Project (Phase-1). This underground section, developed at a cost of ₹1,810 crore, will enhance connectivity across Pune.
Additionally, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Swargate-Katraj Extension of Pune Metro Phase-1. This 5.46 km southern extension, which is entirely underground and will include three stations at Market Yard, Padmavati, and Katraj, is set to be developed at a cost of ₹2,955 crore.
The Prime Minister will also dedicate the Bidkin Industrial Area to the nation, a landmark project under the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor. Covering an area of 7,855 acres, Bidkin is positioned 20 km south of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra’s Marathwada region. The ₹6,400 crore project is expected to be developed in three phases and is anticipated to become a major economic hub.
In another significant move, PM Modi will inaugurate the revamped Solapur Airport. The upgraded terminal now has the capacity to handle 4.1 lakh passengers annually, greatly improving connectivity for tourists, business travellers, and investors.
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Memorial of Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule’s First Girls’ School at Bhidewada, a project that commemorates the contribution of India’s pioneering social reformer and advocate for girls’ education.
