Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Wardha, Maharashtra, on Friday to participate in several key events, including the ‘PM Vishwakarma’ programme, marking one year of the initiative. The programme aims to support and uplift traditional artisans and craftspeople across the country.

During the programme, PM Modi will distribute certificates and loans to beneficiaries of the scheme. As a gesture of the government’s continued support for artisans, he will extend credit to 18 beneficiaries from 18 different trades. In recognition of their contributions to society, the Prime Minister will also release a commemorative stamp, celebrating one year of the scheme’s impact.

In a move to boost India’s textile industry, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park in Amravati, Maharashtra. The 1,000-acre park, being developed by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), is one of seven PM MITRA Parks approved by the Government of India. The initiative aims to position India as a global hub for textile manufacturing and exports by creating world-class infrastructure to attract large-scale investments, including foreign direct investment (FDI), and drive innovation and job creation in the sector.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will launch the “Acharya Chanakya Skill Development Center” scheme, spearheaded by the Maharashtra government. Under this initiative, skill development centres will be set up in prominent colleges across the state to provide free training to youth aged 15 to 45, enabling them to become self-reliant and access diverse employment opportunities. Approximately 1,50,000 youths will benefit from this training annually.

In support of women entrepreneurs, PM Modi will also introduce the “Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Women Startup Scheme.” The scheme will provide financial assistance of up to ₹25 lakh to early-stage women-led startups in Maharashtra. Notably, 25% of the funds under this scheme will be reserved for women from backward classes and economically weaker sections. This initiative aims to empower women entrepreneurs, helping them become self-reliant and independent.
