British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Monday said he had not considered resigning following mistakes in his election campaign, including a decision to leave D-Day commemorations early last week which prompted him to issue a public apology.
“No, of course not,” Sunak told broadcasters on Monday (June 10) when asked if it had crossed his mind to quit.
Britain’s opposition Labour is on course to win the national election on July 4 according to polls which give leader Keir Starmer’s party a roughly 20-point lead over the ruling Conservative Party.
Labour Party will publish its “fully costed” plans in the election manifesto on Thursday (June 13), Starmer told the BBC on Monday.
Also on Monday, Reform UK’s Nigel Farage said the right wing party was pitching itself as “the challenger to Labour.”
Commenting on EU elections, which saw a swing to the right, the Brexit campaigner said he was pleased the UK had a “great escape” as he was skeptical of the bloc’s ability to “survive”.
