What happened in Kuwait?

A devastating fire in Kuwait’s Mangaf district has claimed the lives of at least 51 people, including five Indians, with several others sustaining burns. The tragedy unfolded in a building housing around 200 labourers, including workers from Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

How did the fire start?

The fire. which started in the kitchen of a labor camp around 4:30 am local time, rapidly engulfed the upper floors, leaving residents trapped due to sealed glass windows.

The death toll may increase

Desperate to escape. some individuals resorted to jumping from the building, resulting in further tragedy. Many suffered severe burn injuries and suffocation from the thick smoke. Emergency services swiftly responded, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention. According to the reports. there is a chance that the number of deaths may increase as many people are critically injured.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed shock over the incident. with the Indian ambassador visiting the
camp to assess the situation.
