Police in Greater Hyderabad have busted an inter-state child-selling racket and rescued 11 babies.
The racket came to light after police launched an investigation following the arrest of Shobha Rani, a Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP) on May 22 for selling a child for Rs 4.50 lakh.
Medipally Police under Rachakonda Police Commissionerate arrested 11 persons, including eight women, who had bought the children from three accused from Delhi and Pune.
“They (children) were reportedly sourced from poor families and sold for as much as 1.8 lakh to 5.5 lakh rupees. Thirteen babies aged two months to two years, have been rescued and 11 people, including an RMP doctor have been arrested,” said Tarun Joshi, Rachakonda Police Commissioner.

A cryonics company has frozen its first client in Australia in the hope of bringing him back to life in the future. According to ABC News Australia, Southern Cryonics, which operates the Southern Hemisphere’s first known cryonics facility, announced that it has cryogenically frozen its first client at its Holbrook facility. The client, a man in his 80s, died in Sydney before being frozen at minus 200 degrees Celsius. He has become what the company refers to as ‘Patient One’.
“(It was) very stressful,” Southern Cryonics’ facility manager Philip Rhoades said, as per the outlet. “That was what was keeping me awake for a week because there are a number of different procedures to go through for different days, and there were a number of situations that might have gone wrong if we hadn’t prepared properly,” he added.

Breaking his silence on the Pune Porsche accident, which has sparked outrage across the country as well as a political row, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has said he has been in touch with the Pune police commissioner since day one and that the law is equal for all.

India’s first undersea tunnel — the coastal road tunnel in Mumbai — is showing evidence of seepage. The tunnel has been in use only for less than three months. The twin tunnels, which have a diameter of 12.19 metres, run 17-20 m below sea level.
On March 11, one side of the coastal road was opened to traffic and more than 7 lakh vehicles have travelled through the route so far.
