With the BCCI deciding to make the application for Team India’s head coach public, many random people filled the form and submitted applications, using fake names of famous celebrities and political leaders.
As per a report in the Indian Express, the board has received multiple applications in the names of Tendulkar, Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh, and Virender Sehwag, among some other former cricketers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s names are also in the list.

Patna College Student Beaten To Death On Campus. Reason: Dandiya Argument

A day after a 22-year-old student was beaten to death by masked men on the campus of a college in Patna, police have arrested the main accused and found that an altercation over a dandiya night last year led to the attack that claimed the youngster’s life.
Harsh Raj, a third-year student of Vocational English at BN College, was at Sultanganj Law College yesterday to take an exam when masked men armed with sticks attacked him. The blows left him critically injured. Police reached the spot and rushed him to a hospital, where he died during treatment.
“A heinous crime took place on the law college campus yesterday. Some anti-social elements beat up a student, Harsh Raj, so badly that he died later. We formed a Special Investigation Team. We have now arrested the main accused, who planned the attack. His name is Chandan Yadav, a final-year student of Patna college. Next Pandemic Is “Absolutely Inevitable”, Warns Top British Scientist

Sir Patrick Vallance, the UK’s former chief scientific advisor, has warned that another pandemic is a certainty and the incoming government needs to prioritise preparedness, according to The Guardian. Speaking at the Hay Festival, Vallance acknowledged the upcoming election but stressed the urgency of “sorting out” critical issues.
One of the most pressing matters, according to Mr Vallance, is establishing “better surveillance” to detect emerging threats early. He emphasised the importance of rapid response, echoing his message to G7 leaders in 2021.
Mr Vallance believes readily available diagnostics, vaccines, and treatments could prevent the need for drastic measures witnessed during the COVID-19 pandemic. While achievable, these improvements require significant international “coordination,” he cautioned.
According to The Guardian, he remarked that by 2023, the G7 had “sort of forgotten” the points he had made in 2021. He urged, “You can’t forget about it,” and recommended that pande..

Dera Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Acquitted In 2002 Murder Case

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim was today acquitted by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the murder case of a former Dera official. Ranjit Singh, a member of the Dera’s state-level committee, was shot dead in 2002. It is alleged that the murder was linked to his suspected role in circulating an anonymous letter that narrated how Ram Rahim was sexually exploiting women at the Dera headquarters in Haryana’s Sirsa.
In 2021, a CBI court convicted Ram Rahim and four others in the murder case and sentenced them to life imprisonment. The special court had held that it is proved beyond reasonable doubt that the Dera chief was aggrieved by the circulation of the letter and conspired with the other accused to kill Ranjit Singh. The 56-year-old Dera chief had challenged this conviction in the high court. The four others convicted by the CBI court have also been acquitted today.
The controversial Dera chief is in jail after being convicted of raping two sadhvis at the dera and in the ..

Dalit Woman’s Harassment Case Cost 3 Lives In A Year – Including Her Own

In a stark reminder that tall claims and taller promises during election season fly in the face of ground realities, a Dalit family’s fight for justice in a sexual harassment case in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar has claimed three lives in less than a year — the latest of the complainant.
The woman, now 20, filed a police case in 2019 against four men, alleging that they had harassed, threatened and assaulted her. According to the FIR, the complainant, then 15, was out for ablutions when Azad Thakur, Vishal Thakur, Pushpendra Thakur and Chotu Raikwar verbally abused her. Vishal Thakur, the woman alleged, also slapped her and threatened her against going to the cops. Coming months before the 2020 Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, the case became a subject of heated political exchanges between the ruling BJP and the Opposition Congress.
Then the elections were over, and the accused’s families started pressuring the woman to withdraw her complaint. The family refused. In August last year, a mo..

India Coach Application Deadline Ends: Laxman Not Interested, Gambhir…

The deadline for applying for the post of Indian men’s cricket team chief coach ended on Monday but both the BCCI and the top name in its wishlist, Gautam Gambhir chose to keep mum on the development. After guiding Kolkata Knight Riders to their third IPL trophy on Sunday, it is but natural that Gambhir’s name is getting more momentum. While both interested parties haven’t said anything on record, the BCCI, it seems, doesn’t have too many quality options available at the moment.
It is understood that no notable foreign name has applied for the post, especially after BCCI secretary Jay Shah made it clear that the Board is looking at someone who has risen through the ranks and knows the domestic structure.
It could be safely said that the BCCI’s primary target was VVS Laxman, the National Cricket Academy head, but the stylish Hyderabadi seems not interested in a full time position which requires him to available for 10 months a year.
“The deadline is fine, but the BCCI brass wouldn’t min..

“KCR Wanted To Arrest BJP’s BL Santosh”: Big Claim In Phone Tapping Row

Inquiries into the Telangana phone-snooping row have thrown up yet another explosive allegation – that then Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao wanted to arrest senior BJP leader BL Santosh to force a “compromise” and “get rid of the Enforcement Directorate case” against his daughter K Kavitha.
The allegations were made by ex-Deputy Commissioner of Police P Radhakrishna Rao in a six-page confession that contained damning claims, including one that said he “arm-twisted certain persons creating trouble” for the former Chief Minister and/or his family members and the ruling party.
Mr Rao – arrested in March from his Banjara Hills Hyderabad home – also claimed he had, on orders from the Chief Minister or his inside circle, been active in “suppressing dissent or protest or agitation against the BRS (then called the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, or TRS) and/or its government…”

Chief Justice To Decide On Arvind Kejriwal’s Urgent “Extend Bail” Plea

The Supreme Court has refused an urgent hearing of Arvind Kejriwal’s application to extend his interim bail – on medical grounds – by a week. Arrested in March in the alleged liquor policy scam, the Delhi Chief Minister was granted interim bail this month to campaign for his AAP ahead of the election for Delhi’s seven Lok Sabha seats. He was released till June 1 and told to return to Tihar Jail by June 2.
However, Mr Kejriwal’s hopes of an immediate hearing were dashed after a vacation bench said it would only forward his plea to Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, who will decide when it will be heard.
“The CJI will take an appropriate decision on listing this plea,” the bench of Justice JK Maheshwari and KV Vishwanathan said, noting the verdict in the original case – Mr Kejriwal challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate – had been reserved after the last hearing on May 17.
Mr Kejriwal had sought an urgent hearing for Wednesday.
