US Family Infected With Brain Worms After Eating Undercooked Bear Meat

An American family that shared a meal of bear meat at a gathering was infected with brain worms, a new report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has said.
The Minnesota Department of Health in 2022 learnt about a man hospitalised multiple times within a short period after showing symptoms such as fever, severe muscle soreness, swelling around the eyes, and other troubling health issues.
Upon further investigation, it came to light that the 29-year-old had attended a family gathering in South Dakota before he took sick. At this gathering, one of the meals included kabobs made from black bear meat sourced from northern Saskatchewan by a family member.
According to the CDC report, the meat had been stored in a freezer for a month and a half before being thawed out and was initially served rare, due to its darker colour. Family members noticed the undercooked taste and recooked it before serving again. The bear meat was eaten by nine family members in total.

Series and movies from India clocked over 1 billion views on Netflix in 2023, the streaming service said on Friday in its second engagement report.
The report, titled “What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report”, presented the streaming service’s viewership data for the period of July to December 2023.
Subscribers across the world watched about 90 billion hours of content on Netflix in the second half of 2023.
From India, Sujoy Ghosh’s “Jaane Jaan” was the most watched movie on Netflix with 20.2 million views, followed by Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jawan” with 16.2 million views and Vishal Bhardwaj’s “Khufiya” with 12.1 million views.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today vowed to thwart alleged attempts to rob Dalits and backward classes of reservations by the INDIA bloc which he accused of “enslavement” and performing “mujra” for Muslim vote bank.

US Woman Fined Rs 73 Lakh After Children Collected Clams From Pismo Beach

A California woman was fined more than $88,000 (Rs 73,16,438) after her children collected 72 clams that they wrongly thought were just seashells. Charlotte Russ took her kids on a trip to Pismo Beach, which is known as the “Clam Capital of the World,” and mistakenly let the youngsters the molluscs, according to ABC News.
Her children collected rows of clams, but they learned an expensive lesson: clamming has regulations.
The Fresno resident was left stunned when she was confronted by an official from the state’s Department of Fish and Wildlife and informed that her five children were collecting clams without a license.
“My kids thought they were collecting seashells, but they were actually collecting clams-72, to be exact,” Fresno resident Charlotte Russ toldABC30.

The Pune crash, where two techies were killed after being hit by a Porsche, has gripped the entire nation with the police investigation unveiling a new twist every day. Pune Police today revealed that the family of the 17-year-old who was allegedly driving the car made efforts to pin the blame on a driver.
