Iran President Ebrahim Raisi was killed in a helicopter crash in East Azerbaijan province on Sunday, Iranian media said. Elections to elect the next President will be held on June 28, it added.

There was “no sign” of life among passengers of the helicopter, Iran's state television said. “Upon finding the helicopter, there was no sign of the helicopter passengers being alive as of yet,” the state TV said.

President Raisi, who has been in office since 2021, has pledged Iran's steadfast support for Palestine, a stance reiterated during his recent dam inauguration speech.

The family of 25-year-old Ashwini Koshta is still in shock, The body of the young woman, who was mowed down by a drunk teen in Pune on a speeding Porsche, was brought to her home in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, today. Ashwini was one of the two persons hit by the vehicle at 2.15 am on Saturday. Her colleague Aneesh Awadhiya also died on the spot. Both were software engineers working in Pune.
The teen who was at the wheel, son of a prominent realtor from the city, secured bail 15 hours after his arrest. He is just four months short of 18 years — the minimum age required to legally drive a car.
His lawyer said he has been asked to work with the traffic police of Yerawada for 15 days, and would undergo psychiatric counselling. He has been also referred to an alcohol de-addiction centre.

Manipur’s “Sacred” Hill Renamed As Kuki Army Camp, State Takes Action

The Manipur government has initiated action against a Kuki insurgent group for renaming a sacred hill of the valley-dominant Meitei community, and for claiming the area as its “camp”.
The Kuki armed group's action could spiral into another round of violence amid the ethnic tension between the hill-dominant Kuki tribes and the Meiteis, Manipur government sources said today.
The Kuki National Front – Military Council, or KNF(MC), which also calls itself the “Kuki Army”, had installed a signboard at the base of the Thangjing ching (hill) calling it “Thangting camp” of the “Kuki Army”.
The Meitei community in the lakeside Moirang town had been going for pilgrimage to Thangjing ching, the home of the deity Ibudhou Thangjing. They believe the Thangjing ching site to be at least 2,000 years old. The tribes call this hill range Thangting, which falls under Churachandpur district.

CCTV Shows Speeding Porsche Moments Before Crash Killed 2 In Pune

The Porsche car driven by a 17-year-old was seen speeding, well in excess of posted speed limits, before it knocked down two people on a motorbike, killing them on the spot in Pune, CCTV footage of the incident showed. The boy, who was seen drinking at a pub to celebrate his class 12 results hours before the crash, was reportedly driving at 200 km per hour.
The speeding Porsche hit two IT professionals from Madhya Pradesh , Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta. Witnesses said Ashwini was thrown 20 feet in the air and Aneesh was flung into a parked car. Passersby were seen rushing to the spot after the collision. Several videos showed locals beating up the occupants of the car.

Turkish Drone Draws Star, Crescent After Finding Iran President’s Chopper

Ayatollah Ebrahim Raisi, the President of Iran, has died after the Bell 212 Helicopter, which he was onboard, crashed in the mountains of the Jolfa region of East Azerbaijan. The Foreign Minister of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, was also onboard the crashed chopper.
The chopper navigated through dense fog and harsh weather and crashed in the mountains of Jofa a few minutes after taking off. The massive search operation was launched, with neighbouring states – Turkey, Iraq, and Azerbaijan offering help. The Turkish Bayraktar Akinci drone reportedly found the wreckage of the chopper in north Iran, close to its border with Azerbaijan.
The AKINCI01 – the call sign of the drone, detected heat signatures when it hovered over the crash site early this morning.
