There is neither widespread anger against the incumbent BJP nor a clamour for a challenger, political strategist Prashant Kishor told NDTV today, predicting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to lead the BJP to another victory in the ongoing Lok Sabha election. Mr Kishor, who now leads Jan Suraaj, said the BJP’s tally in this election may hover around its 2019 score of 303 or better than it.

One person was killed and 30 injured Tuesday when a Singapore Airlines Boeing 777 hit severe turbulence on a flight from London and was forced to make an emergency landing in Bangkok.
Emergency vehicles raced onto the tarmac at the Thai capital’s main airport with lights flashing and sirens blaring after Singapore-bound flight SQ321 touched down at 3:45 pm (0845 GMT).
It is the latest drama involving a Boeing plane, after a fuselage panel blew out of an Alaska Airlines 737 MAX in January as well as two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019.
Singapore Airlines said the flight took off from London’s Heathrow airport and “encountered severe turbulence en route”.
“We can confirm that there are injuries and one fatality on board the Boeing 777-300ER. There were a total of 211 passengers and 18 crew on board,” the airline said in a statement.

Poll strategist Prashant Kishor today credited the BJP for shifting the election discourse to winning 370 seats from just crossing the halfway mark in the Lok Sabha. However, a failure to achieve that mark may disappoint the share market, noted Mr Kishor in an exclusive interview with NDTV’s Editor-in-Chief Sanjay Pugalia.
“When the expectation from a company is very high and they do not meet that despite performing well, the stock market punishes them. From this point of view, if the BJP scores less than 370 seats, this may become a talking point. The markets too may reflect this,” said the poll strategist.
Mr Kishor, who had worked with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP during 2014 polls, has predicted a victory for the ruling party in the ongoing elections.

In a rare incident, a passenger has been killed and 30 others suffered injuries due to severe turbulence on a flight from London to Singapore. The death has been confirmed by Singapore Airlines.
In a statement, Singapore Airlines said flight number SQ321, which took off from Heathrow Airport in London on Monday and was headed to Singapore, “encountered severe turbulence” en route. The aircraft was diverted to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport, where it landed at 3.45 pm (local time) on Tuesday.

The 17-year-old who rammed his father’s high-end Porsche into a motorcycle, killing two techies in their 20s, had the knowledge that his act could cause death and the Indian Penal Code section against him will be applied accordingly, the chief of the Pune Police has told NDTV.
