The BJP has taken action against former Union Minister and MP Jayant Sinha after he allegedly failed to cast his vote today. The party has issued a show-cause notice against him, claiming he has not been taking part in “organisational work and election campaigning” ever since Manish Jaiswal was declared a candidate from the Hazaribagh seat in Jharkhand. Mr Sinha, who in March expressed his desire not to contest the Lok Sabha polls, is the sitting MP from the high-profile seat.
“You are not taking any interest in organisational work and election campaigning ever since the party declared Manish Jaiswal as the candidate from the Hazaribagh Lok Sabha seat. You did not even feel the need to exercise your vote. The party's image has been maligned because of your conduct,” BJP state general secretary Aditya Sahu said in a notice.
The party has asked Mr Sinha to explain his stand within two days. The 61-year-old is yet to respond to the notice.

Justice Chitta Ranjan Dash, who retired as a judge of the Calcutta High Court on Monday, said he was a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Speaking at his farewell at the high court in the presence of the judges and members of the bar, Justice Dash said he was “ready to go back to the organisation” if they called him for any assistance or for any work that he was capable of doing.
“To the distaste of some persons, I must admit here that I was and I am a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS),” he said.
Demitting office after over 14 years as a high court judge, Justice Dash came to the Calcutta HC from the Orissa HC on transfer.
“I owe a lot to the organisation… I am there from my childhood and throughout my youth,” he said.
“I have learnt to be courageous, upright and have an equal view for others and above all, the sense of patriotism and commitment to the work,” he said.

The family of 25-year-old Ashwini Koshta is still in shock, The body of the young woman, who was mowed down by a drunk teen in Pune on a speeding Porsche, was brought to her home in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, today. Ashwini was one of the two persons hit by the vehicle at 2.15 am on Saturday. Her colleague Aneesh Awadhiya also died on the spot. Both were software engineers working in Pune.

The Porsche car driven by a 17-year-old was seen speeding, well in excess of posted speed limits, before it knocked down two people on a motorbike, killing them on the spot in Pune, CCTV footage of the incident showed. The boy, who was seen drinking at a pub to celebrate his class 12 results hours before the crash, was reportedly driving at 200 km per hour.
