Celebrations in Kaithal as Aditya Surjewala wins by 8,124 votes

Aditya Surjewala, Congress leader and third-generation representative from his family to contest from Kaithal, has secured a victory in the Haryana Assembly elections by defeating BJP’s Leela Ram with a margin of 8,124 votes. Despite Congress trailing behind BJP in the overall state elections, Surjewala’s supporters celebrated at his residence as the results came in.

Following the win, Surjewala took out a roadshow in the city, showing his gratitude to the people of Kaithal. Earlier, Surjewala had pledged to tackle the issues of hooliganism and hatred, urging citizens to vote for Congress to foster justice and development.

“I have wished for prosperity for the people of Kaithal. The development work that has stopped in the assembly seat, I wish to divert it into a path of progress. So many students are moving out of Kaithal for their future, I wish to change this. Our fight is against hooliganism, hatred that has been spread here. I am contesting elections for the development of Kaithal and we will bring development here. My family has been associated with Kaithal for more than 20 years. I have a strong bond here. I will appeal to people to vote for Congress for justice and development.” he said.

In another development, Congress candidate and former wrestler Vinesh Phogat won the Julana Assembly constituency, defeating BJP’s Yogesh Kumar by 5,761 votes.

As BJP moves closer to a third consecutive term in Haryana, Congress has raised concerns about discrepancies in the vote count provided by the Election Commission.
