Gulshan Devaish on sharing scenes with Anurag Kashyap
Speaking with Zoom, Gulshan had this to say about the filmmaker’s turn as an actor in Bad Cop. He stated, “He’s quite good. If he’s interested in it, he can get even better. He’s done a lot of theatre with Makarand Deshpande. So, he understands the craft. He’s not very interested in having a career as an actor, so he may not have the same level of interest or dedication as me, or Harleen [Sethi] have, but he’s quite good.”
The actor added, "He's capable of getting the job done so I don't feel like I'm working with a novice, I feel like it's someone who is a professional. And more than that, I think I just want to hang out with him, it's something that I've never done in all the years that I've known him. That was more fun."

Gulshan Devaiah on his Bad Cop character
In Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, Gulshan also played twin brothers, Karate Mani and Jimmy who were opposites of one another. Referencing the previous film where he played a double role, the actor said, “That was [director] Vasant Bala’s world. The reality of those characters is very different. The reality of these characters is very different. Aditya has a certain entertaining way of telling the story. That is his craft, so I have to serve that sensibility.”
TheHunterrr actor went on to explain acting is a more elaborate in a double role. He shared, “Usually the difficulties are always technical because when you’re doing a scene with yourself, you have to hit certain marks and you have imagined the performance first. But since I had already done something like this before, I was also aware that these are things that I have to focus on. I had the advantage of already having some idea as to how to approach it.”
Gulshan also added that Bad Cop has a lot of familiar tropes which audiences could find fun. And while the story might be recognizable, it has been updated for modern audiences of 2024. He called his roles as Karan and Arjun as his interpretation of a filmi cop. Bad Cop, which stars Harleen Sethi and Aishwarya Sushmita, streams every Thursday on Disney+ Hotstar.
