IND vs BAN, 1st Test Day 1: Ashwin-Jadeja rescue India with record-breaking partnership after early jolts

India staged a brilliant comeback on the opening day of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai on Thursday. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja crafted a record-breaking partnership for the seventh wicket, propelling India from a precarious 144/6 to a formidable total of 339/6 at the close of play at Chepauk.

Demonstrating their batting prowess, Ashwin and Jadeja steadied the innings after the top order faltered against Hasan Mahmud’s incisive bowling at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Ashwin notched a superb century off 108 balls, while Jadeja contributed an impressive unbeaten 86 off 117 deliveries, putting India in a commanding position in this opening match of the series.

Earlier, in-form Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a valuable 56 runs off 118 balls after Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Shubman Gill fell cheaply in the morning session. Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul also departed early after lunch, but Ashwin and Jadeja took control, forging an extraordinary 195-run partnership for the seventh wicket.
