5.30 pm: That will be Stumps on Day 4

Bangladesh 26/2 in 11 overs, trail by another 26 runs. Shadman Islam 7*, Mominul Haque 0*; Ravichandran Ashwin 2/41

Ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin struck twice in quick succession, leaving Bangladesh struggling at 26 for two in their second innings, as India took full control of the rain-affected second Test by the end of day four on Monday.

Bangladesh remain 26 runs behind, with Ashwin causing the damage by claiming two wickets for just 14 runs.

Earlier in the day, explosive half-centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul gave India a dominant edge.

Jaiswal smashed 71 from 52 deliveries, while Rahul contributed 68 off 43 balls, powering India to declare their first innings at 285 for nine, securing a 52-run lead. Virat Kohli also chipped in with a brisk 47 off 35 balls.

On the bowling front, Bangladesh found some relief through experienced left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan, who took four wickets for 78 runs, alongside off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who grabbed 4/41. Their efforts managed to slow down the Indian batters, who had been scoring at a brisk rate of more than eight runs an over.

But the ball ended up close to the bowler on his follow-through which Pant saw and immediately stopped running, shouting at Kohli to go back to his crease. But Kohli was too far down the pitch to turn back and make it in time. He completely gave up hope of getting back but was fortunate that Khaled missed hitting the stumps with the ball despite being just inches away.

Preview

After two days of no play due to rains and poor condition of the outfield, the weather seems to be smiling on India and Bangladesh. The clear skies is clear indication of the some cricketing action between both the teams after not even a single ball was bowled on Day 2 and Day 3.

Earlier on Day 1, the match also witnessed a delayed start. India later opted to bowl. Rohit Sharma's decision to stick with fast bowler Akash Deep proved to be the right decision as the right-armer picked two quick wickets with the new balls. Post lunch, R Ashwin, picked up a wicket, which saw him overtake Anil Kumble to become the second-highest wicket-taker in Asian soil (after Muttiah Muralidaran). The final session was called off.

Bangladesh have remained on 107 for three, with Mominul Haque on 40* off 81 and Mushifur Rahim on 6* off 13
