India Participates in the Summit on Peace in Ukraine

Pavan Kapoor, Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs, represented India at the Summit on Peace in Ukraine, held on June 15-16, 2024. The summit, hosted by Switzerland, brought together various international stakeholders to discuss pathways to peace in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

The Indian delegation actively participated in both the Opening and Closing Plenary Sessions of the Summit. However, India did not align itself with any communique or document that emerged from the event. This stance underscores India’s independent and consistent approach to facilitating a lasting and peaceful resolution to the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.

India’s involvement in the Summit, as well as its participation in previous NSA/Political Director-level meetings based on Ukraine’s Peace Formula, reflects its commitment to a peaceful resolution. The Indian government continues to advocate for sincere and practical engagement between the conflicting parties as essential to achieving lasting peace.

India remains engaged with all stakeholders and both parties involved in the conflict, contributing to earnest efforts aimed at establishing early and enduring peace. The participation in such high-level meetings is a testament to India’s dedication to fostering dialogue and diplomatic solutions in international conflicts.
