Indian markets rebound: Sensex gains 376 points, Nifty approaches 24,950

Indian markets rebounded after a three-day losing streak on Monday, with the Nifty closing near 24,950.

The Sensex rose by 375.61 points, or 0.46%, ending at 81,559.54. Meanwhile, the Nifty gained 84.20 points, or 0.34%, closing at 24,936.40. The session saw 1,576 shares advance, while 2,300 declined, and 130 remained unchanged.

Leading the gains on the Nifty were Hindustan Unilever (HUL), Shriram Finance, ICICI Bank, ITC, and Britannia Industries. On the other hand, ONGC, Tech Mahindra, Hindalco Industries, NTPC, and BPCL ended as top losers.

Sector-wise, the FMCG and Bank indices recorded a 1% rise each. However, sectors including Capital Goods, Information Technology, Metal, Telecom, Media, Oil & Gas, Power, and Realty declined by 0.3% to 1%.

The BSE midcap index fell by 0.3%, while the smallcap index shed 0.6%.
