Preliminary reports suggested that hiding militants were encircled at Bajaad village of Gandoh area around 9.50 a.m. Major search operations were launched in Doda district following twin terrorist attacks on checkpoints at Gandoh and Chattergala areas on June 11 and June 12, which left seven security personnel injured. The security forces suspect that the group of militants trapped in Sinoo area may be behind one of these attacks.

The Army pressed into service drones to maintain a vigil of the encounter site and ensure the hiding militants do not escape from the encounter site.

₹5 lakh cash reward announced

Following the twin attacks, security forces intensified their anti-terrorist operations and announced a cash reward of ₹5 lakhs each on four Pakistani terrorists believed to have infiltrated and operating in the district.

The police, assisted by security forces, launched an operation in the village of Sinoo panchayat but came under heavy fire from the hiding terrorists, the official said.
