Nifty hits record high, Sensex gains 1,300 points

Indian benchmark indices ended a five-day losing streak on July 26, with the Nifty reaching a fresh lifetime high of 24,861.15. The Sensex surged 1,292.92 points, or 1.62%, closing at 81,332.72. The Nifty rose by 428.70 points, or 1.76%, ending at 24,834.80.

Top performers in the Nifty pack included Shriram Finance, Divis Labs, Apollo Hospitals, Bharti Airtel, and Cipla while losers were ONGC, Tata Consumer Products, and Nestle India.

All sectoral indices closed in the green, with gains in IT, metals, pharmaceuticals, realty, auto, FMCG, capital goods, telecom, and media sectors, which were up by 1-3%. The BSE Midcap index increased by 2%, and the Smallcap index rose by 1%.
