Nine children killed as wall collapses in Madhya Pradesh amid heavy rain

Nine children were killed after a wall collapsed on a tent in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district on Sunday morning amid heavy rain, police said.

Two other children sustained injuries and have been taken to a nearby hospital, they added.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his deep sorrow over the deaths of the nine children who were trapped under debris due to the wall collapse in Sagar.

According to officials, the incident occurred around 8:30 am., with initial reports suggesting that the collapse was caused by the heavy downpour the previous night.

Upon receiving information, senior officials and district administration authorities arrived at the scene.

District Collector Deepak Arya confirmed that local police and rescue teams initiated a rescue operation. “Nine children have died in the incident. Two others have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment,” Arya said.
