Nita Ambani Wears Hyderabadi Khada Dupatta; All About The Mughal Era Item That Even Rekha And Mahira Khan Have Worn

Nita Ambani is currently stealing all attention. For the unversed, it is all thanks to her exquisite looks from Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's pre-wedding festivities. For one of the functions, the Ambani bahu decided to go with a Hyderabadi Khada Dupatta. Yep, the same dupatta that even Rekha and Mahira Khan have experimented with.

A Hyderabadi bride is incomplete without a Khada Dupatta. That is how loved this style of double dupatta draping style is. To top it off, this elegant piece of clothing is also worn by the bride’s sister and other family members at Hyderabadi weddings.

History of the khada dupatta

The draping technique, mastered for Mughal Empress Noor Jehan, came to Hyderabad when Mughal governor Mir Qamar-ud-din Khan Siddiqi Bayafandi established the Hyderabad estate.

Renowned as a Muslim fashion symbol, the Khada Dupatta to date epitomizes the grace and sophistication of a bygone era. Draping the six-meter-long dupatta in a two-panel design with a heavy zardosi border to cover the head is an art form.
