Paris Olympics: PV Sindhu advances to Round of 16 after beating Estonia’s Kristin Kuuba

Indian shuttler PV Sindhu advanced to the Round of 16 in the women’s singles badminton event at the Paris Olympics on Wednesday, following her victory over Kristin Kuuba of Estonia in the final Group M match.

With this win, Sindhu has joined men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty as the Indian shuttlers who have qualified for the knockout stage.

The two-time medalist took control of the game from the very first minute, defeating Kuuba with a score of 21-5, 21-10 in just 34 minutes at the La Chapelle Arena.

Sindhu won the first game in just 14 minutes and continued her strong performance in the second game, winning it 21-10 in 19 minutes.

Sindhu could potentially face He Bingjiao of the People’s Republic of China in her upcoming Round of 16 match. Earlier in the Tokyo Olympics, Sindhu defeated He Bingjiao to win a bronze medal.
