Rise of the Ronin blends the ethos of a challenging action-RPG with the approach of a modern open-world action-adventure title. But in its best of both worlds approach, the game loses the sanctity of Team Ninja’s robust and relentless combat established in the studio’s previous games and fails to bring new and distinct ideas to the open world formula.
