Six Flags Over Texas Debunks Viral Video Claiming Child Dangling From Superman Ride In Arlington

A video that went viral a few days ago seemed to show a child dangling from the Superman: Tower of Power ride at the Six Flags Over Texas Amusement Park in Arlington, Texas. The fact that the Tower Of Power ride has seen a few accidents in the past, made the video even more believable and raised questions on the security of the ride. However, the park authorities have confirmed to news outlets that no such incident happened at the park.

"There was no incident at the park," a Six Flags Over Texas spokesperson said in a statement to Texas-based ABC affiliate WFAA. "The video appears to be a hoax. I can confirm, there was no incident of any kind."

The Superman ride at Six Flags Over Texas involves a rapid 325 feet ride up into the sky, followed by a free fall, along with a few planned bumps on the way. It is a popular feature of the Six Flags Over franchise, with states like Georgi, New Jersey, Kentucky and Chicago also having the Superman ride.

The last known accident at the park was in 2007, when a 13-year-old girl at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom had her legs severed when a cable snapped on a ride, with only one foot reattached.

Before that, on August 6, 2001, a train collision sent 22 people to the hospital without major injuries. On May 1, 2004, a 55-year-old man was thrown from a coaster and killed.

There are other Superman rides located in several Six Flags parks across the United States. 'Superman – Ride of Steel' can be found at Six Flags America in Woodmore, Maryland, and Six Flags Darien Lake in Corfu, New York, where it was renamed 'Ride of Steel' in 2007.

'Superman: Ultimate Flight' is located at Six Flags Great America near Chicago, Six Flags Over Georgia near Atlanta and Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township, New Jersey.
