“Space sector, an important element in strengthening country”: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the pivotal role of the space sector in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. PM Modi stressed that the space sector is a vital element in strengthening the country and achieving the target of ‘Developed India-2047’.

“The space sector is an important aspect. We have done many reforms in this sector,” PM said, highlighting the government’s efforts to foster growth in this area. He noted the increasing participation of startups and private entities in the space sector, viewing it as a sign of a vibrant and promising future for India.

The Prime Minister assured the nation that the government’s commitment to reform is not merely for praise but to fortify the country. “When the policy is right, the intention is right and the mantra is national welfare with complete dedication, then we definitely achieve results,” he said.

PM Modi’s speech comes against the backdrop of significant achievements in India’s space program. He referenced the upcoming Gaganyaan mission, India’s first human spaceflight programme slated for 2024-25, and recalled the successful Chandrayaan-3 moon landing and the launch of Aditya-L1 solar mission in 2023. The Prime Minister also mentioned ambitious future plans, including establishing the ‘Bharatiya Antariksha Station’ by 2035 and sending the first Indian to the Moon by 2040.

Beyond space, PM touched upon reforms and advancements in various sectors including tourism, MSMEs, education, health, and agriculture. He emphasized the nation’s progress in combating terrorism and the growing self-confidence among Indians.
