Week long Eid holidays in Bangladesh will impact trade and train service with India

A week-long Eid-ul-Adha holiday in Bangladesh will impact trade and train services between India and Bangladesh. Trade activities between Bangladesh and India through the Hili land port will remain closed for eight days from June 14 to June 21 for the Eid holidays, said a General Secretary of Hili Land Port Import-Export Group. Hili Land Port is located in the Dakshin Dinajpur district of West Bengal along the international border between India and Bangladesh.

However, the cross-border travel will continue through the immigration check-post of Hili land port during this time, Said in-charge official of Hili Immigration Check-post.

The three inter-country trains on Bangladesh-India routes: Dhaka-Kolkata-bound Maitree Express, Dhaka-New Jalpaiguri-bound Mitali Express, and Khulna-Kolkata-bound Bandhan Express will remain suspended during Eid holidays.

“On the occasion of Holy Eid-ul-Azha inter-country passenger trains respectively ‘Maitri Express’ – from June 14 to June 22; ‘Mitali Express’ – June 12 to June 20 and ‘Bandhan Express’ – June 16 to June 20 will remain suspended”, according to Bangladesh Railway’s website updates.
